Miami mayor to accept entire salary in bitcoin

Miami Mayor Francis Suarez, who just got a second term this week, said he will acknowledge 100% of his compensation in bitcoin, telling "Cavuto: Coast to Coast" Thursday that the move will "make an impression on the world that we will be one of the most creative states and imaginative urban areas in the world." 



He explained that Miami won't uphold that city workers acknowledge Bitcoin. 


"We unquestionably won't force it on anybody," he pushed. 


Suarez noticed that the city's CIO "was the principal representative to really take a level of his compensation in bitcoin." 


"I will be representative number two," he disclosed to have Neil Cavuto. "I will be taking 100% of my compensation in bitcoin." 


"It will be totally discretionary," he focused. "We need our workers to have that choice, however it unquestionably won't be something we will constrain on them, understanding that a choice like that is an individual choice they need to make assuming they need to make it." 


Suarez, a digital currency advocate, has been seeking tech business people to his city. 


As city hall leader, Suarez was getting a $97,000 pay starting at 2018, as per the New York Post. 


The Post detailed Suarez previously uncovered he needed to acknowledge his compensation altogether in bitcoin on Tuesday because of a tweet from Anthony Pompliano, a crypto fan and financial backer at Morgan Creek Capital Management who inquired, "Who will be the main American government official to acknowledge their compensation in bitcoin?" 


"I will take my next check 100% in bitcoin… issue settled!" Suarez wrote accordingly.
